Description from the seller
Zolotaya Niva: A Primer for Learning Russian and Church Slavonic Literacy (1908) is a Russian reader/primer designed for teaching Russian and Church Slavonic literacy using a visual‑phonetic method.
Published in Riga by K. G. Zikhman in 1908, the book served as a didactic tool for beginners learning to read and write not only in standard Russian but also in Church Slavonic, the language used in liturgical texts and older manuscripts.
This publication is an early example of methodological primers from the early 20th century and offers a valuable historical insight into language and literacy education in the Russian-speaking world of that era.
Condition: Half-cloth binding – the boards are worn (see photo) but firmly attached; pages are occasionally soiled and the paper has yellowed. Overall, however, the book is in good condition, with no significant damage.
