Rijkelijk en verfijnd Vlaams barokbeeld van Sint-Petrus in gepatineerd eikenhout.

Oorspronkelijk was het beeld mogelijk gepolychromeerd maar met de tijd is het oppervlak egaal donker gepatineerd waardoor het een ingetogen uitstraling heeft gekregen. De verfijnde detaillering en de sobere maar krachtige uitstraling van dit beeld zijn kenmerkend voor de laat barokke beeldhouwkunst in de zuidelijke Nederlanden tijdens de tweede helft van de 17e eeuw. In de Vlaamse christelijke kunst wordt Sint-Petrus meestal afgebeeld met een omgekeerd kruis rond de nek als verwijzing naar zijn kruisdood.
