Cardhu 16 Years Special Edition 2022

Cardhu 16 Year Old Special Release 2022 is a limited edition single malt edition from the Cardhu distillery in the Speyside region of Scotland, released by Diageo as part of the annual Special Releases series. This 58% ABV (by volume) whiskey was aged for 16 years in American oak barrels (refill and recharred) and then finished in Jamaican pot still rum barrels, giving it an exotic, tropical feel. Bottled in 70 cl bottles, it is a whiskey with a golden colour, inspired by the legend of the "hidden paradise of the black rock" (Carn Dubh), with a tube-shaped packaging with tropical motifs, including a colourful bird and leaves.

History and Rarity

Cardhu Distillery, founded in 1824, is famous for its light, fruity whiskeys, often used in blends like Johnnie Walker. This special edition from 2022 is a tribute to the legendary "tropical heat" from an underground spring under the distillery, which symbolises the packaging with vivid, exotic illustrations. As part of the limited Diageo Special Releases series, production is limited, which makes it sought after by collectors
