Lagavulin 12-year-old Special Release 2021

Lagavulin 12 Year Old Special Release 2021 is a limited edition single malt from the Lagavulin distillery on the island of Islay, released as part of the annual Diageo Special Releases series. It is a whiskey with a barrel strength of 56.5% ABV, with a volume of 0.7 l, distilled in 2008 and bottled in 2021. The presented copy is in the original box, with an intact seal, in perfect condition for collection or tasting.

Characteristics and flavor notes

This whiskey is famous for its intensity and balance between saltiness, sweetness and smoky aroma, which makes it a classic example of "King Islay" in full power. Nose: Gentle and dry at first, rapidly developing into a wonderfully aromatic marine profile with hints of seaside air, Himalayan salt, Lapsang Souchong smoked tea, mineral salts and a light cleansing lotion; underneath are dry touches of cocoa powder, dried seaweed, lemon peel, and salty-sweet smoke from a distant bonfire on the shore.

Palate: Smooth and oily texture; the taste begins to be sweet to quickly turn into intense lemon acidity with a taste of sea salt and persistent burning, with hints of pepper and char in every sip; overall salty-sweet profile that becomes more rounded and softened with a little water. Finish: Long, with smoke waves and warming chili sharpness; the smoke stays in the aftertaste, even better with a drop of water.

Released in 2021 as the 21st edition of the Special Releases, this whiskey is appreciated by collectors for its raw power and authentic peat Islay character, matured in American oak refill barrels. Ideal for lovers of intense, smoky single malts, with investment potential due to limited availability.
