Questo straordinario dipinto sotto vetro rappresenta una raffinata icona devozionale, realizzata con vivida intensità cromatica e un’evidente maestria tecnica. L’opera raffigura la Vergine Addolorata, colta nel momento di profonda contemplazione ai piedi della Croce, immersa in un fondo dorato che ne esalta la sacralità e la luminosità spirituale. Sullo sfondo, la scena della Crocifissione e l’apparizione delle figure divine nel cielo completano la composizione con un potente linguaggio simbolico, tipico della tradizione bizantina e delle scuole popolari dell’Europa orientale tra XVIII e XIX secolo.

La pittura, realizzata con pigmenti brillanti direttamente applicati sul retro del vetro, mostra un equilibrio armonico tra linee nette e colori saturi, con particolare attenzione ai dettagli decorativi del manto della Vergine e alla resa espressiva del volto.
