SEA Glasbruk - attr. Rune Strand - Vase - Glass - Rare Find

A rare and unusual find, a three lobed, heavy glass vase in purple with bubbles rising to the edge attributed to Rune Strand. A magnificent vase was created By SEA Glasbruk in Kosta with a clear base, which merges into a gorgeous purple ombré body. Bubbles are delicately rising to the rim, first a few at the bottom, then their number and size expanding as they seem to surge through the glass, giving the surface a silver shimmer. The thick rim is beautifully polished, revealing a deep purple with the bubbles visible, like silver slithers. The vase is free blown, hence the uneven thickness of the rim, a truly spectacular object that can stand alone as décor and talking point. It measures 16.5cm in height, at the top the width is 19.5cm and 15cm at the base. The depth at the rim is 8cm at the deepest point in the middle, the left & right lobe are 5.5-6cm deep. At the base the deepest part measure 7cm, the left & right lobe 4.5-5.5cm. This arresting piece of Art Glass weighs 1.6kg. The vase is in excellent condition, there are 2 miniscule scratches on the base (see photo 44), there are no other chips, scratches or markings. Please view the photos closely as they form part of the description. Rune Strand (1924 - 2000) Artist, Designer and Glass engraver. Rune learned genuine glass kraft early from his father, a master glassblower. His family moved between several glass works in Sweden and Denmark, exposing him to different glassmaking traditions and inspiring him in his designs. He has worked for more than 10 years with Vicke Lindstrand in Kosta. SEA Glasbruk lit their furnaces for the first time in 1956, with the three founders Inge Samuelssson, Sven Ernstsson and Tore Andersson using their initial to name the company. The companies emphasis is on creating stylish glassware defining the modern Swedish glass style. Their vases are designed in collaboration with Florist to ensure that they suit a large range of flower arrangements and the shifting trend of all things floral. SEA Glasbruk is renowned for its high quality objects, one of the reasons it was purchased in 1986 by the Orrefors group as an independent subsidiary. In 1990 it became part of the Orrefors Kosta Boda AB.
