Beautiful and authentic French military field drum, made by the renowned maker Couesnon & Cie, Paris. This drum dates from approximately the late 19th to early 20th century and remains in highly original condition. Features: Maker: Couesnon & Cie (France) Period: ca. 1905 Materials: brass shell, wooden rims with blue paint, natural animal skin heads, leather tensioners, cotton rope lugs Dimensions: Ø 36 cm, height 25 cm] Includes: original carrying strap and pair of wooden drumsticks Tension system: rope-tension with leather tuning tabs Colour: brass with blue-painted hoops The drum shows lovely patina and authentic wear consistent with age and use. The “Couesnon & Cie, Paris” maker’s mark is clearly visible on the brass shell. Both top and bottom heads appear original, showing natural aging but no tears. The original snare cord is still present on the bottom head. A beautiful and rare collector’s piece for enthusiasts of military history, vintage percussion, or French musical craftsmanship. Seldom found complete with original accessories in such condition. Condition: Poor antique condition – signs of age, wear and lacquer loss consistent with use (see photos for full details).
