Seven Pillars of wisdom- TE Lawrence- 1935- First trade edition First trade edition, first impression, of Lawrence of Arabia's narrative of the Arab Revolt. This trade edition followed the now virtually unprocurable Oxford Times edition of 1922, of which there were just 8 copies printed, and the 1926 Cranwell edition, of which only 170 copies were designated complete for subscribers. Interior: 672 pages. Photogravure portrait frontispiece of Lawrence from plaster bust, 47 plates, 4 folding maps in red and black, illustrations in text. All map’s and images immaculate. Some minor foxing on the inside boards and a few pages near the front otherwise very clean throughout. Tightly bound. No shelf lean. Neat owners' inscription which you can see in a pic. Exterior: Original brown buckram, spine and front cover lettered in gilt, motif of crossed scimitars stamped to front cover in gilt, top edge brown in colour and other edges untrimmed. No dust jacket. Cloth clean, but with a few scratches and a little sun fading on the rear external board. See pic. A little bumping of the base of the spine. Nice example.
