Juan Ferrer Carbonell (1892-1985) was a Spanish painter, draftsman, and teacher.
Born in Madrid on June 5, 1892, he cultivated landscape painting and newspaper illustration, in addition to teaching. The critic José Francés commented on how his works 'a certain very virile melancholy, a delicacy not free of vigorous traits, translated the charm of remote places or lively scenes.' For Gil Fillol, he was 'a perceptive observer with a flexible sensitivity, interpreting the landscape in a simple and affectionate way.' At the 1934 National Fine Arts Exhibition, he won a third medal for Plaza de una villa bretona. A militant of UGT, after the civil war he encountered some problems with the Franco authorities and was subjected to purging processes. Ferrer, who was referred to in the press as 'the traveling painter,' died on January 29, 1985.
