Description from the seller
Rare historical herbarium – Sweden 1929–1932 – including mosses.
For sale is a unique and originally preserved herbarium from the years 1929 to 1932. This collection was carefully assembled and documented by collector Erik Rabe in Sweden. The herbarium includes not only numerous dried and professionally labeled flowering plants but also various mosses, which were collected on special sheets and taxonomically identified.
The included plants include approximately Ammodenia peploides (Salttav) from the family Caryophyllaceae and Epilobium montanum from the family Onagraceae, collected in Säringe and Hölöby with precise location and date information. The mosses complement the collection and make it particularly interesting for botanical research and for enthusiasts of historical natural records.
Overview of details
Herbarium folder with handwritten name tag by Erik Rabe.
Collection of flowering plants and mosses with detailed provenance, scientific classification, and a classic layout.
Each plant and moss sample on an individual sheet with original Swedish written labels (1929–1932).
Seasonal locations and detailed descriptions, ideal for botanical specialists and collectors.
The folder shows age-appropriate signs of use but is in an extremely authentic and well-preserved condition. The mosses, as well as the other plants, are carefully preserved — a special addition, as mosses are rarely included in historical herbaria.
An extraordinary find for botanists, museums, collectors, and enthusiasts of scientific memorabilia. This herbarium offers an impressive insight into the plant world and scientific practice in Sweden of the early 1930s, including not only flowering plants but also a collection of mosses.
Secure shipping from Germany, carefully packaged for the receipt of this important time document. Additional detailed photos available upon request. Highly recommended for specialists, scientists, vintage collectors, and fans of Nordic natural history.
