First edition of this biography of Johann Wilhelm Hoffmann (1710-1739), who was a Doctor of both laws (I. U. doctor), Councilor at the Court and Councilor of Justice to the King of Poland and Elector of Saxony, as well as a renowned professor of history at the University of Wittenberg. Comes with an engraved frontispiece of Johann Wilhelm Hoffmann, an engraved title vignette, and several engraved head- and tailpieces, engraved initials, as well as a fold out plate with facsimile text. The text is in Latin, but the last chapter (Chapter VII), which is an obituary ode, is in German. Some rubbing, wear, creases, and damage to the boards and spine. Remnants of a sticker on the spine. The spine is fraying on both ends. Only little browning and spotting throughout. The text and illustrations are clear, and the binding is solid. Overall, a copy in good+ condition.
