A part of Chinese blue and white molded porcelain 'Crab and fish' tea-set: two cups and three saucers. Executed after Kangxi examples, but later. Qing dynasty (大清), 19th century, most probably Guangxu (1875-1908, 光緒) period. Rare! Cups finely potted of very thin, snow-white, translucent porcelain, with everted flared top-rim moulded in shape of petals, incised decor around the foot-rim. All superbly painted in vivid underglaze-blue, exterior with carp and three other fish swimming amidst aquatic plants and spawn (fish-eggs), twelve reserves with flowers above the foot-rim. Interior with a centered medallion depicting crab amidst aquatic plants surrounded by a double circle, four flower sprays on walls, wide band of flowering twigs under the rim. Underglaze blue four-character Qianlong mark in double circle on the base, but from late 19th century, Guangxu period. Saucers with incised petal-shape pattern around the foot-rim and flared top-rim molded in petals. Interior with crab in the middle, followed by four fish, all amidst spawn (fish-eggs), band of 22 reserves with flowers and band of dense foliage and blossom next to the rim. Exterior with three flower sprays. Inscribed to the base with four-character underglaze-blue Qianlong mark within a double circle. Dimensions: Cups: height - 5,1 / 4,9 cm; diameter - 8,3 / 8,1 cm. Weight - 47 / 53 g. Dishes: diameter - 13,9 / 13,6 / 13,8 cm. Weight - 84 / 84 / 87 g. Provenance: Dutch (Utrecht) private collection. Conditions report: - one cup in excellent condition, no damages visible; - other cup with tiny v-shaped chip with associated hardly visible hairline (1,8 cm); - one saucer minimal fritting to the edge; - other dish with tiny v-shaped chip with associated hardly visible hairline (1,5 cm); - last dish in excellent condition, no damages.
