Statuette masculine – Bembe (Beembe) – République du Congo. Ex collection Dr Jolly. 

Superbe statuette masculine Bembe sculptée dans un bois dur à patine miel-brune profonde.
La figure, trapue et puissamment construite, se distingue par :
	•	un visage expressif à mâchoire saillante et barbe triangulaire,
	•	des yeux incrustés de porcelaine blanche, symboles de clairvoyance,
	•	un ventre orné de motifs géométriques gravés rappelant les scarifications rituelles,
	•	des bras fléchis et poings fermés, typiques des représentations d’ancêtres protecteurs (Bimbi).
	•	le trou au niveau du bas du dos pour la charge. 

Cette sculpture, au style sobre et équilibré, exprime la force spirituelle et la densité symbolique de l’art Bembe.
Présente une fente ancienne visible à l’arrière, stabilisée, sans fragilité structurelle.

Pièce de belle qualité, représentative de la statuaire Bembe, marquée par la tension entre puissance formelle et intériorité mystique.
