ABOUT ONTAKE DISTILLERY

Founded in 2019 by the prestigious Nishi Shuzo (established 1845), Ontake Distillery represents 180 years of brewing expertise applied to whisky-making. Located in Kagoshima Prefecture, this innovative distillery released its debut whisky in December 2023, quickly gaining international recognition.

-From the bottler's web site-
This single malt whisky has been produced at the Ontake Distillery since 2019.
It is made from the finest quality two-row barley, non-peated malt.
The CASKS are also an important ingredient of our whisky, so it uses ONLY old sherry casks.

-Tasting note-
The beautiful amber gold, and deep reddish color from the sherry cask.
The fragrant, rich and gorgeous aroma, is sweet and fruity notes of dried apricots, caramelized apples, and stewed prunes in red wine.
The mouthfeel is very smooth and silky.
The taste is rich with harmony of flavors of dried fruit and oak-derived vanilla.
Toward the finish, gentle texture with smoothy alcoholic sensation spreads pleasantly.
