In this sculpture, the anthropomorphic face evokes deep empathy and, at the same time, a sense of discomfort. The figure embodies the paradox of vulnerability and protection, where rescue simultaneously becomes a form of confinement - highlighting the fragile balance between safety and entrapment in a complex world.
Contemporary artist Edgar was born in 1987 in Lithuania. His childhood unfolded at the crossroads of historical changes — between the collapse of the old system and the birth of independence.
Until his student years, Edgar witnessed the societal turn — from free slavery to pricy freedom. His upbringing took place against the backdrop of the growing influence of Western culture, which deeply shaped his worldview. To pursue his Bachelor's degree, he moved to England, where he began creating under the pseudonym ASPENCROW. In his work, the artist reflects on and immerses himself in the game of the mind.
The artist demonstrates an obsessive attention to the quality of his art objects, where every element holds significance. This precision is evident in his hyper-realistic figurative works as well as in his conceptual and abstract creations, where accuracy and craftsmanship are part of the foundation of his artistic vision.
In his creative practice, ASPENCROW frequently employs recurring elements such as satire, irony, deliberate imperfections, erosion, or the intentional absence of detail. His works are often characterized by monumental scale and a monochromatic palette, reflecting the influence of his region of origin. Additionally, a notable aspect of the artist’s visual language includes inflatable objects and hyper-realistic forms inspired by pop art.
