(* July 17, 1940 in Wernigerode) is a German painter, graphic artist, designer, and sculptor. He subscribes to the principle that art that needs explaining is boring. Common characteristics of his work are its experimental approach and vibrant use of color.

Otmar Alt is an established and versatile contemporary artist. Always eager to experiment and in search of new artistic challenges, he does not limit his work to painting and graphic arts.
He transcends the boundaries of different genres of visual art, repeatedly venturing into the fringes of artistic practice. His work includes the design of high-quality tableware, glass lamps, facades, and windows. He also creates designs for theatrical sets, stage scenery, and costumes.
