Cupboard - Burr walnut - Closet Cantù Italy

This monumental five-door wardrobe is a fine example of Italian craftsmanship from Cantù, made around 1949 in the Louis XV Rococo revival style. The piece is constructed in solid walnut with richly figured burled walnut veneer panels, displaying the warm, swirling grain characteristic of furniture from this renowned region. Four mirrored doors flank a central solid burl panel door, all framed by elaborate hand-carved ornaments in walnut. The quality of carving is exceptional throughout — acanthus leaves on the legs, a shell motif on the central pilaster, an openwork carved cornice, and original gilt bronze escutcheons. The wardrobe stands on five elegantly carved cabriole legs with pad feet, adorned with acanthus leaf decoration — a hallmark of the Cantù furniture tradition. The base rail features a finely carved dentil frieze running the full width of the piece. A rare and impressive statement piece for collectors of Italian furniture, ideal for a classical or eclectic interior. Approximate dimensions: W ±300 cm × H ±210 cm × D ±65 cm (exact measurements available on request). Collection / Pickup: Please note, this item is located in La Spezia, Italy. Due to its size (approx. 300 cm wide, 210 cm tall), collection in person is preferred. The wardrobe can be partially disassembled (doors and cornice removable) for transport. Viewing by appointment possible. Buyer is responsible for arranging transport. Professional furniture movers recommended.
