Lichtdruck (auch: Phototypie, Collotypie, Albertotypie) ist ein nur noch selten angewendetes Edeldruckverfahren.

Székessy ist ohne Übertreibung zu den »Grandes Dames« der deutschen Gegenwartsfotografie zu rechnen. Schönheit und Sinnlichkeit bilden zentrale Themen ihrer Arbeit. Dies kommt vor allem in ihren unverwechselbaren weiblichen Porträts und Akten zum Ausdruck. Székessys besondere Kunst ist es, die Frauen auf ihren Bildern auch unbekleidet nie nackt wirken zu lassen, stets umgibt sie eine Aura des Unberührbaren. Daneben zählen aber auch - vor allem in früheren Arbeiten - Fotografien mit fast szenischem, reportagehaftem Charakter ebenso zu ihrem Oeuvre wie beeindruckende Künstlerporträts.

Zuletzt gab es von Mai bis Juli 2025 eine große Retrospektive in der Kunsthalle Lüneburg
Karin Székessy verstarb Ende Mai 2025 im Alter von 87 Jahren.
