A high-end quality Pioneer A-449 integrated stereo amplifier, built in Japan around 1990–1991.
This well-regarded model is known for its powerful, clean sound reproduction, solid metal construction and the wide range of input options, including a phono stage for both MM and MC cartridges.
Fully tested and working.

A beautifully preserved example of one of Pioneer’s best early-1990s amplifiers.

Historical Context
In the late 1980s and early 1990s, Pioneer invested heavily in premium analogue audio components.
The A-449 belongs to this golden period of Japanese hi-fi engineering, where amplifiers were still built with heavy steel chassis, discrete component circuits and high-grade phono stages.
Its “Clean Ground System” and “Straight Line” direct mode reflect the audio philosophy of the time: creating the shortest, purest signal path for demanding listeners.
Today, this model is appreciated for its reliability, warm yet dynamic sound character, and its excellent compatibility with both vintage and modern audio setups.
