Biografie
Helmut Newton (1920–2004) war einer der bedeutendsten Mode- und Porträtfotografen des 20. Jahrhunderts. Geboren in Berlin, arbeitete er nach seiner Emigration in Paris, Monaco und Los Angeles für internationale Magazine wie Vogue, Vanity Fair und Elle. Mit seiner kompromisslosen, erotisch aufgeladenen Bildsprache prägte er die visuelle Kultur der Luxusmode wie kaum ein anderer Fotograf seiner Zeit.
Newton fotografierte unter anderem für Chanel und Hermès und schuf damit Bildwelten, die Eleganz, Macht und Sinnlichkeit in Szene setzten. Sein unverwechselbarer Stil – kühl, inszeniert und zugleich provokant – beeinflusste auch die Ästhetik anderer Luxusmarken wie Louis Vuitton und Patek Philippe, die bis heute ähnliche Werte von Exklusivität und Perfektion verkörpern.
Seine Arbeiten sind heute in den wichtigsten Museen und Sammlungen der Welt vertreten und zählen zu den wertvollsten Positionen der zeitgenössischen Fotografie. Helmut Newton bleibt ein Synonym für Luxus, Weiblichkeit und die Kunst der Inszenierung.
