Vintage Japanese Lantern Lamp, Andon. This is a traditional Japanese Buddhist lantern. It has been used in Buddhist rituals, ceremonies and temples in Japan for over 1000 years. The lantern has a flower picture on it. The unique light that shines through the paper looks like a person's soul and gently flickers. The rounded, bulging lantern frame is made of bamboo, which gives it strength. It can also be folded. This was made in the Showa era（1926-1989）.
