 Dynaco PAT-5 Bi-FET Preamplifier

Era / Age: Introduced in the mid-1970s as an improved successor to the PAT-5, the Bi-FET version adopted FET input stages (notably the LF357 op amp) for lower noise and improved dynamic behavior. 

Highlights:
 • Full-feature preamp with support for two phono inputs, multiple high-level sources, tape monitoring loops, and a speaker‐selector (for A/B) built in. 
 • Always-on internal circuits (the front power switch controls convenience outlets only) to avoid turn-on transients.

Dynaco SE-10 10-Band Graphic Equalizer

Era / Age: Released in 1976 under design by Wade Burns, the SE-10 was Dynaco’s flagship equalizer. 

Design Highlights:
 • Uses a hybrid approach: L–C resonators for the higher bands and gyrator circuits (via op-amps) for the lowest four frequencies (30, 60, 120, 240 Hz) to avoid bulky inductors.

Dynaco Quadaptor (QD-1)

Era / Age: Likely from around 1970, contemporaneous with Dynaco’s Dynaquad system era. 

Function: A passive (no-power) matrix adaptor that converts a 2-channel stereo signal into 4 channels (“4-dimensional” or "quadraphonic") per the Dynaquad encoding principles. 

Details / Features:
 • No external power required
 • Rear level/gain control and balance check switch for fine adjusting the rear channels balance relative to the front ones 
 • Uses screw-terminal connections for ease of wiring 


The Quadaptor is a vintage gem for anyone wanting immersive spatial effects with vintage systems or recreating authentic 1970s quadraphonic sound.
