Produced in Dublin by W & A Gilbey; a wine merchant and bonder who received their spirit from the famous Bow Street Distillery (home of Jameson’s whiskey). The whiskey takes its name from one of Gilbey’s chairmen, nicknamed “Redbreast” due to his penchant for bird watching. Production moved from Dublin to Cork when the Bow Street distillery closed its doors in 1971, but was halted in 1985, and a year later the brand was sold to Irish Distillers.
