This necklace is crafted in sterling silver with intricate filigree (telkari) workmanship, a decorative technique that involves twisting and soldering fine silver wires into elaborate patterns. The chain is composed of delicately interlinked elements, each shaped into swirling and floral-inspired motifs characteristic of traditional Ottoman and Middle Eastern silversmithing.
At the center hangs an oval-cut cabochon amazonite, set within a smooth silver bezel. The gemstone displays vivid blue-green hues with white streaks, a visual hallmark of amazonite. Known since antiquity, amazonite was used in Ancient Egypt for jewelry and seals, with examples found among the treasures of Tutankhamun’s tomb. Its name derives from the Amazon River, though no deposits exist there; the association was made due to the stone’s exotic coloration.
In modern symbolic interpretation, amazonite is regarded as the “stone of hope” and “stone of courage,” associated with positive energy, balance, and harmony.
