Description from the seller
German Violin, Stradivarius Model – 4/4 Size
1. Introduction
A full-size German Stradivarius model violin, crafted in the mid-20th century, designed in the classical Cremonese style. This instrument represents the solid and practical workmanship typical of German workshops, intended for players seeking a traditional violin to restore and set up.
2. Historical and Artistic Context
German luthiers of the 20th century produced a wide range of Stradivarius-model violins, often used for orchestral and conservatory training. These instruments faithfully follow the dimensions and arching of the original Italian models while offering a robust tone and long service life.
3. Craftsmanship and Materials
Made with a straight-grained spruce top and two-piece maple back, displaying subtle figure beneath a warm orange-brown oil varnish. The violin retains its original ebony fittings, including fingerboard and chinrest, though replacement of certain parts has been noted. Edgework and purfling are cleanly executed in the typical German manner.
4. Tonal Character and Playability
Once restored and properly set up, the violin promises a clear and resonant voice, with the bright projection typical of German workshop Stradivarius copies. The tonal potential is evident in the solid construction and quality tonewoods.
5. Condition
• Bridge: New, uncut Despiau bridge (supplied).

• Strings: Factory set included, and installed.
