Description from the seller

This service of six oyster plates is a production of the Faïencerie de Salins-les-Bains (Salins, France), likely made in the 1950s–1960s, as indicated by the black circular stamp used by the manufacturer during that period. These plates feature an aesthetic typical of the mid-20th century, blending functionality, chromatic softness, and decorative refinement.

Each plate is crafted from thick faience and features a composition of six shell-shaped cavities arranged in a rosette around a central well intended for lemon or sauce. The cavities display a subtle gradient from moss green to deep green, achieved through controlled spraying of the glaze. The slightly striated central background stands out with a luminous yellow that delicately contrasts with the matte pearl gray exterior glaze. The surface treatment gives the entire piece a satin touch and a visual presence that is both understated and elegant. The back of the plates bears the stamp 'SALINS FRANCE,' applied under the glaze.

The set is in perfect condition, showing no cracks or chips. Only very slight signs of use, consistent with their age, can be observed on the surface, without affecting the aesthetic quality or the integrity of the plates.

The Salins-les-Bains pottery factory, founded in the 19th century in Jura, distinguished itself through a diverse production ranging from utilitarian pieces to decorative models inspired by modern trends. In the post-war decades, the manufacturer developed new forms, played with glaze effects, and fully embraced the evolution of European domestic taste. These oyster plates, typical of that period, testify to Salins' expertise in mastering colored glazes and creating sets that are both practical and harmonious.

The average dimensions are:
Diameter: 24 centimeters.
Height: 3 centimeters,
Total weight of the set: 2880 grams.

Each plate will be carefully packaged individually, and the whole will be shipped quickly and securely to arrive before the end-of-year holidays and adorn the table. In-store pickup and group delivery are available. Photos are part of the description.
