Art Nouveau Stained glass window (2) - 1910-1920 - Amsterdam

Jugendstil / Art Nouveau Stained-Glass Panels in Copper Inlay, ca. 1910 In Excellent Condition – No Reserve A dramatic pair of early 20th-century stained-glass panels executed in the luxurious technique of copper inlay. Around 1910 this method was considerably more exclusive than traditional lead came, reserved for high-end decorative commissions in refined urban interiors. These two matching panels form a sweeping Art Nouveau composition: flowing organic curves, stylised foliate motifs, hand-painted floral sections, and elegant curved segments of clear blank faceted glass. The colours are radiant and atmospheric: amber yellow, turquoise, opaline cream, deep rose pink and richly textured blue. Each piece displays unmistakable hand-crafted workmanship. Placed together with a small spacing, the pair creates an approx. 80-cm wide tableau that instantly evokes the Belle Époque. Imagine these mounted above a doorway, behind a window, or integrated into a contemporary interior as a statement artwork. The solid copper inlay gives a warm golden outline, and the faceted clear glass throws beautiful reflections across the room. A unique commission-made set, not found elsewhere. Specifications • Period: ca. 1910 • Technique: stained glass in copper inlay (a more luxurious method than lead at the time) • Origin: Amsterdam city centre • Composition: 2 matching panels • Weight: approx. 2.5 kg combined • Dimensions per panel: approx. 30 × 39 cm (h × w) • Total display width (with approx. 2 cm spacing): approx. 80 cm • Materials: hand-cut coloured glass, blank faceted glass, copper inlay construction • Condition: in vintage, unrestored condition with minimal signs of age that add to its authentic charm. Please review the many photos for an accurate impression. Historical context During the Belle Époque and Jugendstil / Art Nouveau period, stained glass became a hallmark of elegant European architecture. Copper inlay, far more labour-intensive and costly than lead, was used only for high-quality commissions where refined detail and fluid asymmetrical lines were desired. The stylised motifs and hand-painted roses in these panels reflect the movement’s fascination with craftsmanship, nature, and ornamentation. Shipping The panels will be securely packed with full edge protection and shipped insured.
