Description from the seller

This set comprises seven crystal wine glasses of the "Yale" pattern, an iconic creation by Val Saint Lambert, produced in the 1950s and 1960s, a period during which the Belgian crystalworks developed elegant, architecturally designed tableware for an international clientele. At 12.3 cm tall, these glasses are suitable for light red wine or full-bodied white wine, typical of the versatile formats of the era.

Each glass is distinguished by its harmonious silhouette resting on an octagonal stem, whose carefully polished edges refract the light. This stem rises in eight flat, ascending ribs that converge towards a band sculpted with truncated squares—a highly structured decorative element, a signature of the Yale model. This band cradles a slightly open bowl of perfect clarity, designed to enhance the wine's color while maintaining a simple and refined line. The overall effect is one of controlled geometry, typical of Val Saint Lambert's technical creations in the mid-20th century.

The overall condition is very good, with minor variations typical of an antique set: one glass has a small chip on the rim, another a chip on the stem, a third a discreet nick on the rim and an internal chip on the base. These details do not affect the use or the overall aesthetics of the set, which remains consistent and well-preserved.

In the 1950s and 60s, Val Saint Lambert underwent a period of aesthetic renewal, marked by the modernization of its lines and increased exports to European and North American markets. Models like Yale reflect this quest for balance between the tradition of cut crystal and more architectural forms, sometimes influenced by post-Art Deco trends and the demands of a new clientele. This collection perfectly embodies this evolution, testifying to the crystalworks' expertise during a period of high technical mastery.

The average dimensions are:
Height: 12.3 centimeters.
- Top diameter: 8.6 centimeters,
Base diameter: 7 centimeters.
- Total weight of the set: 1400 grams.

The 7 glasses will be carefully packaged and shipped quickly and securely to arrive before the holidays and grace your table. Local pickup and combined shipping are available. The photos are part of the description.
