Buffon & M. Le Comte de Lacépède are the authors of the Œuvres complètes de Buffon, a 12-volume French edition in very good condition.
Description from the seller
A superb illustrated collection with beautiful color plates, notably from this edition that gathers Buffon’s Complete Works in a monumental form, incorporating the continuations by Lacépède who pursued and completed the zoological series after the death of the naturalist!
We have here the first eleven volumes of a new series of 26 volumes, published in 1828 in Paris by Bernard-Germain de Lacépède (1756-1825). They deal, precisely, with mineralogy, geology, and the History of Man on Earth.
We add to it the twenty-sixth volume, corresponding to the Supplement volume of the series, focused on zoology and plants -
Buffon & M. Le Comte de Lacépède - The Complete Works of Buffon - Theory of the Earth - Epochs of Nature - Minerals - Introduction to the History of Animals - On Man - Supplement. - 1829 - Volumes I, II, III, IV, V, VI, VII, VIII, IX, X, XI and XXVI - Eymery, Fruger & Co.
[4]-lxiii-[1]-417-[3] ; [4]-524 ; [4]-480 ; [4]-522-[2] ; [4]-574-[2] ; [4]-559-[1] ; [4]-533-[1] ; [4]-530 ; [4]-466-[2] ; [4]-478 ; [4]-451-[1] ; vi-444-4 pages (complete volumes)
Very good condition of the bindings, books in their full original red cardboard bindings, under protective plastic, slight signs of wear, smooth spines adorned, titles, volume numbers and authors' names gilded -
Good internal condition, some foxing; the volumes are adorned with 23 hors-texte engravings, some in color, including a portrait of Buffon in Volume I. Four folding color maps are also present.
