Description from the seller
Animated landscape by the water – Around 1930-1950
Outside frame dimensions: 60 x 48 cm
Signature at the bottom right: Tristan Klingsor
Writer, poet, painter, and musician, Tristan Klingsor (1874–1966) is an emblematic figure of the French artistic effervescence of the early 20th century. Friend of Claude Debussy, member of the circle of the Nabis, he was able to transpose his poetic sensitivity into a rare and intimate pictorial work.
This oil painting depicts a peaceful and luminous landscape, bathed by a turquoise river and bordered by houses with red roofs, in a characteristic post-impressionist style. The soft palette, play of light, and balanced composition evoke the meditative atmospheres of the Midi or the banks of the Loire.
Details :
Original work signed at the bottom right.
Technique: Oil on canvas
Very good overall condition, slight superficial cracking consistent with age, without visible restoration.
Frame: antique wooden frame, gilded and with green re-embossing, of the period.
Provenance: Private collection
