Description from the seller

Information about Olenka Glassworks in Tarnów.
Her splendid cups were produced by Olenka (a brand or product line), associated with Vetreria Domowa 'Tarnów' (Glassworks for Domestic Items 'Tarnów').
Place of production: Tarnów, Poland. The Tarnów glassworks was originally founded in 1934 and resumed the production of handcrafted household items in 1957.
• Year of Production: These glasses are part of the production of colored, hand-cut crystals in the Mid-Century Modern (MCM) style. Most items labeled 'Olenka Tarnów 24% PbO' date from the 1960s to the 1980s. The glass is specifically lead crystal with a 24% PbO content, as indicated on the label, which gives the raw material exceptional brilliance and increased malleability for cutting.
Model of the Goblet: Although a specific model name is not immediately available from commercial records, they are commonly identified as hand-cut crystal wine (or liqueur/cocktail) glasses from the 'Olenka' line, featuring a design often described as 'Swag Cut' or with 'Star and Ball' or 'Dot and Star' motifs, typical of Bohemian/Polish craftsmanship.
The Beauty of Processing
The chalices are made using the complex 'Cut to Clear' technique (cut on colored glass).
Colored Glass: The goblet is blown in a layer of transparent crystal glass coated with an outer layer of colored glass (cobalt blue, emerald green, ruby/melanzana red, amber yellow, and orange).
Hand Engraving (Taglio): Skilled artisans perform deep, precise cuts into the colored surface. These cuts remove the layer of color, revealing the underlying transparent crystal and creating a high-contrast effect.
The Model: The engraving features classic geometric motifs such as radiating rosette patterns (stars), faceted ovals (balls), and fan or lace cuts along the base of the cup. This play of cuts is not only aesthetically remarkable but also maximizes light refraction on the lead crystal. Light passing through the different layers and angles is broken down into a kaleidoscope of reflections.
• Stem and foot: The stem is faceted and worked, often with a hexagonal or diamond pattern, which contributes to the overall brilliance of the piece, culminating in a foot also finely worked in a radiating pattern.
The beauty of these glasses lies in the harmony between the bold color and the intricate carving, a hallmark of luxury glass craftsmanship from the Eastern bloc era.

A Gift of Light and Color for an Unforgettable Christmas

In a season where light takes center stage, their design makes them an ideal Christmas gift for connoisseurs, vintage collectors, or anyone looking to add a touch of classic luxury to their home.
Details and Artisanal Mastery
Each glass is hand-blown and crafted using the ancient and prestigious 'Cut to Clear' technique.
Colors: The set offers a lively and festive palette: Sapphire Blue, Emerald Green, Ruby Red (or Deep Eggplant), Amber Yellow, and Orange. The colors are intense and saturated, beautifully balanced by the transparency of the crystal.
Intaglio: The intaglio is executed with extreme precision by hand, featuring deep rosette cuts (stars) and oval sections (balls) that pass through the colored layer, revealing the underlying clear crystal. This contrast enhances the brilliance of the raw material, creating a sparkling effect that captures and reflects light, essential for the Christmas atmosphere.
• Crystal Quality: The 24% Lead Oxide (PbO) content ensures a clear sound and a reassuring weight, confirming the superior quality and the typical refractive capacity of luxury crystal.
Each piece is a unique work of art, showcasing the excellence of Polish craftsmanship from the mid-20th century.
A Gift of Luxury and History
This vintage set, originating from the historic production of Tarnów, carries a legacy of style and tradition. It is a gift that goes beyond the object itself, offering history, beauty, and the opportunity to create new Christmas traditions. Serving aperitifs or digestifs in these glasses during the holidays will make the experience unforgettable for your guests.
