Description from the seller

Complete works of Vadé or collection of comic operas, parodies, and fleeting pieces by and about the author, with airs, rondes, and vaudevilles.
New edition, 6 volumes, London, 1785
Complete works but in poor condition, with damaged bindings and scattered stains on some pages.
The books are nonetheless readable.

Jean-Joseph Vadé (1719-1755)
Vadé wrote about twenty plays, including vaudevilles, parades, and comic operas (the Troqueurs, 1753; la Nouvelle Bastienne, 1754; les Troyennes en Champagne, 1755). His comedy Les Racoleurs (1756) is considered a masterpiece of the poissard genre, dedicated to reproducing the language of the fishmongers of the Halle, which Vadé also illustrated in his poem La Pipe cassée (1758). He also used the epistolary genre, portraying common people speaking in dialect.

Seller's Story

Good morning all, The Abou-Sorro associative company offers books and objects for sale to finance the construction of a school group on the island of Kassa, in Guinea Conakry. Two buildings, latrines and a recreational space have already come out of the ground and the first CP students made their return to school in October 2020. The final objective is to build a third block to make the Sorro-Mangué school group fully operational in order to educate 400 children from the islands of Loos. The members of the association are all volunteers and the earnings are entirely reserved for the association. Thank you all for supporting this humanitarian and educational cause by your purchases on Catawiki, your donations, and / or memberships via our reference websites by typing the keywords "Abou-Sorro, a school for the island of Kassa".
