Brunetti Orazio, The Prodigal Son, etching on thick handmade paper, Latin caption, signed at the bottom right Hor Brun del., in excellent condition, approximately 20x26 cm at the marginal line, without margins.
Orazio Brunetti (born in 1630) was an Italian engraver and painter, mainly active in Rome, in the Papal States.
Rare specimen of this Italian author.
Biography
Born in Siena and trained in Rome, following the style of François de Poilly. Among his engravings is a Saint Agnes based on a drawing by Francesco Rustici. He also engraved a Saint Sebastian, Saint George slaying the dragon, The Four Seasons, The Golden Age, The Prodigal Son, and a mythological subject. A painting of San Nicola di Bari, Sestola, is attributed to Brunetti.
