Very beautiful copy of the original French edition of L’Irlande et les Irlandais (1837), a romantic work describing with charm the customs, traditions, landscapes, legends, and scenes of Irish life.
Illustrated with a frontispiece by Daniel Maclise and 18 engravings by Thomas Creswick, depicting landscapes, genre scenes, and Irish types.
Elegant romantic binding from the period in fawn morocco, with a smooth spine decorated with a cartouche, cold-pressed volute plaques on the covers, and gilded edges. Very decorative.
In-8, 21.5 cm × 14.5 cm
[4] ff., 327 pages, 1 blank leaf. Complete.
Good condition, some small punctures, light stain on pages 258-265, minimal scuffing to the binding. Solid and clean.
