Waterman Ideal N°7 fountain pen, made by Waterman, model Ideal N°7 with resin/polyester and gold-plated components, origin Canada, length 140 mm, diameter 12 mm, in working order and in good used condition with minor signs of age.
Description from the seller
This Waterman's Ideal N°7 represents one of the most iconic models of fine writing instruments from the golden age of ebonite. The presented specimen is in remarkable condition for its age, maintaining the aesthetic and mechanical essence that characterizes the most sought-after collectible pieces.
The body and the cap, crafted in ebonite Red Ripple, display a pattern of intense veins in red and black tones that continue to show depth and definition. Although signs of use and small marks typical of decades of age are visible, the structure remains solid, with no cracks or deformations. The finish has remarkably preserved its visual presence, demonstrating that the piece was cared for with proper respect for its historical value.
The metal components, including the patented Clip-Cap clip and the central ring, display a uniform patina consistent with their age and free from alterations that could affect their functional integrity. The engraving on the clip remains sharp, adding extra appeal for collectors who value the authenticity of original details.
The pen features its original Waterman's Ideal nib in solid 14-karat gold, with a perfectly legible engraving. The shape of the nib remains correct, with no bends or irregularities, ensuring optimal performance once the usual loading system restoration is performed. The lever mechanism operates properly; however, as with all vintage pieces of this category, it is recommended to replace the internal sac for full use.
At the base of the culote, the mark of the number 7 remains visible, reaffirming the authenticity of the model and its correspondence with the line of color-coded nibs, highly valued in specialized collecting.
Overall, this Waterman's Ideal N°7 combines aesthetics, history, and structural solidity in a very attractive condition, especially considering its age. It is a piece that stands out both for its presence and its significance within the heritage of fine writing, making it ideal for the collector seeking to add an authentic and well-preserved example of one of the most representative pens of the 20th century.
It will be sent in a courtesy box for proper preservation.
