Description from the seller

Rare Spanish silver snuffboxes in 915/1000 silver, stamped with a star, genuine pieces of high-end goldsmithing from specialized workshops, intended for a wealthy clientele. Their quality of craftsmanship links them to the decorative tradition of high society's ceremonial objects in Spain during the interwar years.

Each features a finely chiseled high-relief decoration depicting typical Iberian genre scenes: figures in motion, expressive gestures, stylized architecture, and anecdotal details, reflecting a marked taste for figurative storytelling. The depth of carving and the precision of the volumes give them almost the character of sculpted miniatures. This art, inherited from the Baroque, demonstrates an aesthetic continuity specific to Spain up until the 1940s.

The interior of the two boxes, entirely gilded in vermeil and decorated in repoussé, reveals a remarkable level of craftsmanship, rarely seen on utilitarian pieces. The outer friezes, rhythmically adorned with floral medallions and finely chiseled garlands, further highlight their refinement.

Both preserved in an exceptional state, they stand out for the clarity of their reliefs, the intact brilliance of the vermeil, and the perfect functioning of the hinges. A pair of collectibles of great rarity, combining technical virtuosity and ornamental elegance, emblematic of the craftsmanship of Spanish master goldsmiths of the 20th century.

Weight and dimensions:

Rectangular box, 54.4 g, length 6.5 cm, width 3.6 cm, height 1.8 cm, depth 1.5 cm

Oval box 57.8 g, length 6 cm, width 5.4 cm, height 2.2 cm, depth 1.6 cm

It will be carefully packaged and shipped with insurance and tracking.
