AI-assisted summary

Description from the seller

Lamp signed by L. PARVILLÉE (Léon, 1830-1885), 19th-century bronze base with its fabric lampshade.

Lamp of very good quality, in perfect condition!

Léon PARVILLÉE, born on March 22, 1830, in PARIS, and died in the same city on August 13, 1885, was a French architect, ceramicist, sculptor, and decorator.
A student of Viollet-le-Duc, sculptor, decorator, commissioned by the Ottoman government for the restoration of the city of Brousse and later for Turkish installations at the 1867 Universal Exhibition, a recognized oriental ceramicist and multiple medalist, advocate of polychrome architecture, researcher and art historian, Léon Parvillee (1830-1885) was an 'eclectic' artist in every sense of the word. His passion for ceramics, born from his work as an ornamentist and then as an architect, continually drives him to transfer his technical or aesthetic research from objects to buildings or from buildings to objects. Drawing from all fields and references, the décors and enamels he creates establish a constant dialogue between architecture and decorative arts.

The lamp is in perfect condition, rewired with over 1.50 meters of vintage twisted cable that meets current standards, and fitted with an era-appropriate bakelite switch and plug. The bulb will be provided.
