Description from the seller
Italian centerpiece in cobalt blue glass with 925 silver mounts in Rococo style
Florence, 1950s–1960s
Diameter: 30 cm • Height: 9 cm
Description
Elegant Italian centerpiece made of cobalt blue pressed glass, characterized by a deep and uniform color. The surface features concentric ribbed work typical of Italian production from the mid-twentieth century, with a perfectly smooth internal base.
The piece is embellished with three applications in solid sterling silver 925, each bearing the hallmark '925' and the Italian silversmith's identification mark '*297 FI', which attributes the production to a Florence workshop active during that period. The settings are thick, with a relief of about 4-6 mm, and are cast using traditional techniques, not stamped.
Silver decorations feature a characteristic Rococò Revival style, with acanthus scrolls, floral motifs, and shell shapes, all executed with great attention to detail. The quality of the casting and the precision of the modeling reflect the Florentine silverware tradition of the 1950s and 1960s.
Production period
The 1950s–1960s. The combination of cobalt blue pressed glass, applications in solid silver, and the punch of the Florence workshop *297 FI places the piece within this time period.
Conditions
Excellent condition. The glass shows no cracks, chips, scratches, opacification, or signs of use. The silver applications retain impeccable definition and a uniform shine. The piece appears perfectly preserved and has been used practically never.
