Description from the seller

Faun Head – Black patinated wax sketch with glass eyes

Refined wax sketch depicting the head of a Faun, manually patinated in black and enriched with glass eyes, which give the face an extraordinary expressive intensity.

Made in an artistic wax processing center, this model is a preparatory study for lost-wax casting, a fundamental phase in the bronze sculptural process.

Characteristics
• Material: hand-coated wax, glass eyes
• Dimensions: approx. 30 × 15 × 12 cm
• Origin: Italy
• Type: wax sketch (preparatory)

The subject represents the Faun/Pan, a deity of the woods and fields in Greco-Roman mythology, a symbol of nature, freedom, and instinctive vitality. The wax rendering, with a dark patina and accentuated details, gives the work a highly evocative character.

Sketches of this type are rare pieces, because the wax is normally lost during the casting process: preserving them means preserving a unique and intimate phase of the artist's creative work.
