Black & White Duty Free Sales - Spring Cap - b. 1960s - n/a

A vintage bottle of Black & White blend intended for the duty-free market. It dates from the 1960s. Black & White was created by James Buchanan, born in 1849 in Ontario, Canada. Buchanan emigrated to England and worked for blender Charles Mackinlay & Co. before joining forces with W.P. Lowrie to create his own blend, which at the time consisted of Clynelish, Dalwhinnie, and Glendullan. It was a huge success and was originally called House of Commons. However, it adopted its final name in 1902, inspired by its minimalist black bottle and white labels. The company merged with John Dewar & Sons in 1915, and then in 1925 joined Distillers Company Limited, now known as Diageo, which still produces the blend. Shipping within the EU only. Happy bidding!
