Description from the seller

Antoon Kruysen was born in Boxtel in 1898 as the eldest son of painter Jan Kruysen and Barbara van Dijk. Antoon is a true painting talent and received his first painting lessons from his father. He further trained at the Academy of Fine Arts in Rotterdam and later in Geneva. He achieved success in many places such as Paris, Dreux, Oslo, and especially Chartres. Here, after many travels, he eventually settled and lived until his death in 1977. His work can be found, among others, in the Musée des Beaux-Arts in Chartres. The painting comes from the Peter van den Braken Center in Sterksel. The canvas size of the painting is 51 × 60 cm, with overall dimensions of 62 × 73 cm. It is a doublures and is in good condition. The canvas is signed on the lower left. The mill is painted in full regalia on a mill hill. In the foreground and also in the background, several houses are depicted. The light effect on the mill and on the distant houses is beautifully rendered in warm colors.
