Description from the seller

Iper Rare Apple Media Tool M3871Z/B

Bring your visions to life! With Apple Media Tool (AMT) software, you can create dynamic multimedia projects for business, education, entertainment, and the home. And you can share them with almost anyone because finished projects can run on both Macintosh and Windows software-based systems. ATM is the multimedia authoring tool enabling you to create interactive titles without programming or scripting. With version 2.1 enhanced array of events, commands, and effects, you will be able to utilize extended support for QuickTime VR, expand user interface control, launch applications or browsers, and target specific websites from within an Apple Media Tool runtime.

Apple's answer to interactive multimedia apps, designed in a more intuitive way. I absolutely love the image on the front of the box and the guide/manual — very mid-90s Apple, with the classic Macintosh logo. Measures 9 1/4" tall x 8" wide x 1 3/4" deep.

The Apple Media Tool was a multimedia authoring tool and associated programming environment sold by Apple in the late 1990s. It was primarily aimed at producing multimedia presentations for distribution on CD-ROM and targeted at graphic designers without programming experience. It featured an advanced user interface with an object-oriented user model that made creating rich and complex presentations easy. The main features of the Apple Media Tool included a graphical authoring tool (AMT itself) and an associated programming environment — the Apple Media Tool Programming Environment (AMTPE), which was a compiler and debugger for the underlying Apple Media Language (AML — also known as the Key language). AMT was notable as one of the first authoring systems to support embedding Apple's pioneering QTVR movie format. AML is an object-oriented programming language based on Eiffel but specialized for multimedia programming. Although the AMT did not require any programming experience to use, it produced complete AML programs that were then compiled into byte code and interpreted by a runtime interpreter. The AMPTE could be used to enhance AML code to create more complex programs, such as accessing a database to retrieve media. AML is conceptually similar to Java, with a 'write once, run anywhere' approach to cross-platform development: it had runtime interpreters for both the classic Mac OS and Windows platforms.
