Rare piece in this high quality.
A bronze axe head from the Bronze Age. This type of axe, probably a palstave or socketed axe, was an important tool and status symbol.
Such axes typically date from around 1500 to the 8th century BC.
They were used for various activities, such as chopping wood, crafting materials, and hunting.
The axe head was attached to a wooden handle, often using a loop and bindings to secure it.
Bronze offered a significant improvement in efficiency and durability compared to earlier stone or copper tools.
