Description from the seller

Stefano Di Stasio – Italian artist (born Naples 1948). A prominent exponent of the artistic movement of anachronism, theorized by M. Calvesi in the 1980s and aimed at recovering traditional painting in contrast to conceptual art, he is an undisputed protagonist of the return to image painting, to which he has contributed a visionary and evocative perspective that transcends figurativism to become a visual mode of thought. He participated in the Venice Biennale (1984, 1995), the Rome Quadriennale (1975, 1986, 1992, 1999), and exhibitions of his works have been held at the Novecento show at the Quirinal Stables in Rome (2001), One Century of Italian Art, the Faierabend collection at the Mart in Rovereto (2005), at the Royal Palace of Milan in 2008 (Italian Art 1968-2007, Painting), at Rocca Malatestiana and Palazzo del Podestà in Rimini in 2010 (Contemplations), and at MACRO in Rome in 2013 (Portrait of a City, Art in Rome 1960-2001), as well as in recent solo exhibitions Stefano di Stasio at Andrea Arte Contemporanea in Vicenza (2011-12) and Astanze at Palazzo Collicola in Spoleto (2021).
