Description from the seller
Convolute of the works Macbeth / King John
William Shakespeare - Macbeth - London, John Bell, 1806 - 104 + 146 pages of annotations - fully leather bound - 14.5 x 9.5 cm
bound with
William Shakespeare - King John - London, John Bell, 1811 - 104 + 82 pages of annotations
published as:
The dramatic writing of William Shakspere. Volume the tenth containing Macbeth / King John, 1811
Reasonable
See the photos. Bound in the original full leather binding. The back hinge is partially torn but still holds. Sometimes there is some discoloration on the pages. Well bound. Contains a bookstore label. Complete with the 4 engravings.
The years of issue in the book are strange. The publication date of the book is before the individual titles were published, and annotations and commentaries are written before, which of course is not possible.
This, however, is just a fact. This Shakespeare edition by Bell is a bibliographic puzzle. It is known as Bell's nightmare edition :-) because it is a drama to try to understand the exact date of the book.
