Pétrus 1978 présente une magnifique robe grenat sombre.
Au nez, il distille un bouquet intense de fruits, noirs et rouges, de truffes, et de cacao, délicatement épicées et relevé par des notes toastées et une touche plus minérale.
En bouche, Pétrus 1978 se révèle être un vin ample et équilibré, avec des tanins légers et d'une grande finesse.
Fruité et soyeux, le Pétrus 1978 est aujourd'hui à son apogée, il conviendra de le boire dans les 10 prochaines années.

Dégusté au The Sampler à Islington. Le Petrus 78 n'a jamais répété l'exquise bouteille versée lors de la verticale de l'IMW en 2004. Ceci a une framboise sauvage légère, cuir, bruyère sauvage, poussière de craie et une touche de sous-bois. Le palais est moyennement corsé, tanin légèrement rugueux à l'entrée, carré et masculin, touches de poivron vert vers la finale qui montre un poids louable. Approchant de la fin de son plateau de consommation, un Petrus en déclin gracieux.

Couleur intense. Pas de manque de fruit frais et très manifestement de la rive droite. Fruit propre et brillant. Une certaine évolution mais pas très riche. Pas aussi manifestement de la rive droite que certains autres millésimes de Pétrus mais très soigné.

On the palate, Pétrus 1978 reveals itself to be a full-bodied and balanced wine, with light and very fine tannins.
Fruity and silky, Pétrus 1978 is now at its peak and should be enjoyed within the next 10 years.

Tasted at The Sampler in Islington. The 1978 Petrus has never recaptured the exquisite bottle poured during the IMW vertical tasting in 2004. This one has light wild raspberry, leather, wild heather, chalk dust, and a touch of undergrowth. The palate is medium-bodied, with slightly rough tannins on the entry, square and masculine, with hints of green bell pepper towards the finish, which shows commendable weight. Approaching the end of its drinking window, a gracefully declining Petrus.

Intense color. No lack of fresh fruit and very clearly from the Right Bank. Clean, bright fruit. Some evolution, but not very rich. Not as overtly Right Bank as some other Petrus vintages, but very well-made.
