Dees Dubbel en Cesar - 22 Album - First edition - 2001/2024

Willy Vandersteen, Marc Sleen, and Jef Nys are often mentioned in the same breath as the 'Great 3' who published daily in newspapers. Rik (Clément) rarely receives mention. Yet he was also one of the most active Flemish comic artists.

Dees Dubbel made his debut on November 27, 1955, in the weekly magazine Ons Zondagsblad. In April 1965, the series was taken over by the newspaper Het Volk (from the same publisher) under the title The Dazzling Deeds of Dees Dubbel and Cesar. The comic was a humorous adventure series, which he himself conceived and drew.

Three albums have been published by De Dageraad publishing house. Het Volk has released 34 items. A total of 22 stories remained unpublished until Brabant Strip and ’t Vlaams Stripcentrum supported them. Since 2001, the remaining stories have been published in album form as part of their Fenix collection. Most editions ranged from 650 to 1200 numbered copies. Many covers were drawn by Dirk Stallaert.
