Description from the seller
An extremely rare volume printed by the Antonelli Institute in 1847... A comprehensive monograph of Venetian interest, printed in a limited edition and offered as a gift to participants in the 9th Congress of Italian Scientists. This extraordinary work, published on the occasion of the Ninth Meeting of Italian Scientists on September 25, 1847, can be considered a veritable Venetian encyclopedia: the breadth of topics covered, by the most illustrious scholars of the time, make it a veritable goldmine of information on Venetian civilization.
The topics, all covered by important authors, are: Mint and Coins of Venice by Nob. A. Zon (vol. I part II), Military Forces by Eng. G. Casoni (vol. I part II), Venetian Travellers and Navigators by Dr. V. Lazzari (vol. I part II), Painting by F. Zanotto (vol. I part II), Architecture, Sculpture and Chalcography by Co. A. Sagredo (vol. I part II), Notes on Venetian literature and dialect by Prof. P. Canal (vol. I part II), Venetian Chronology Venetian Noble Families by Cav. E. Cicogna (Appendices vol. I part II), Venetian Magistracies Ab. G. Cadorin (Appendices vol. I part II), Notes on the Eastern Greek colony by Prof. G. Veludo (Appendices vol. I part II), Notes on the Evangelical Community of the Augsburg Confession of Protestants by Dr. T. Wittchen (Appendices vol. I part II), Notes on the Jewish Community in Venice by Mr. A. Lattes (Appendices vol. I part II)
Volume I, Part Two, contains four numismatic plates and a large folded map of the Arsenal. The large city map at the end of the volume is probably missing.
Signs of wear on the corners and edges on the outside - see photos. Light stains on the inside, especially on the edges, but mostly clean.
Rarity, ONLY for lovers of the Serenissima!!!
