Description from the seller
Marc Kuyper (1961) is a Dutch artist whose work balances between figuration and abstraction. His visual language is characterized by a powerful simplicity, where form, color, and symbolism come together to create images that are both personal and universal. Kuyper explores themes such as humanity, silence, spirituality, and memory in his work — subjects he translates into sober, layered compositions with a strong inner tension.
This work centers on the human being — not as a portrait, but as a symbol of consciousness and reflection. The dark, rust-red shapes suggest a silhouette, a profile, and a hand holding a branch with leaves. These simple, almost archaic images are surrounded by a soft gray tone reminiscent of stone or ash, giving the entire piece a timeless, almost sacred atmosphere.
Dimensions with frame: 95 x 78 cm
Dimensions without frame: 68 x 53 cm
Viewing is, of course, possible. Additionally, we have our own in-house framing workshop, which is celebrating its 85th anniversary. Furthermore, we collaborate with restorers from the professional organization: 'Restauratoren Nederland'. If you wish to make use of this service, we would of course be happy to hear from you.
