Description from the seller
FIAT 514 Poster – Authorized reprint from the 1950s
Measurements: about 50 × 59 cm
Signed by Codognotto – Arti Grafiche Bertarelli, Milan
Posting authorized by the Royal Police Headquarters of Milan – December 1928 (Year VI)
Rare authorized reprint from the 1950s of the famous advertising poster dedicated to the FIAT 514, one of the most representative models of FIAT's production at the end of the 1920s. The work is signed by Codognotto, an illustrator active in Italian advertising graphics of the period, known for his dynamic style and ability to blend Art Déco geometric volumes with realistic automotive elements.
The large three-dimensional figure '514' dominates the composition with a very powerful perspective effect, while the vehicle appears at the bottom left, carefully drawn with technical precision and excellent detail. Completing the scene is a large FIAT medallion, a characteristic element of the company's communication at the time.
The input is a dash character, which does not require translation.
Characteristics
Officially authorized reprint from the 1950s (not an original from 1928).
Company stamp: Codognotto
Printer: Arti Grafiche Bertarelli – Milan
• Paper: thick, coated / semi-glossy, typical of authorized post-war reprints.
• Format: about 50 × 59 cm
Historical inscription: 'Posting authorized by the Royal Police Headquarters of Milan – December 1928 (Year VI)'
• Conditions: good overall condition with signs of age: light creases, small edge tears, and normal signs of use consistent with a poster over 70 years old (see photo).
The input is a dash character, which does not require translation.
Collecting
The authorized 1950s reprints of FIAT posters are now highly sought after because:
They faithfully maintain the original graphics from the 1920s-1930s.
They are qualitatively superior to the more recent reprints.
They come from prestigious printing houses like Bertarelli, linked to Italian design of the twentieth century.
They constitute an excellent compromise between rarity, history, and accessibility.
Imposing decorative piece, ideal for automobilia collectors, Art Déco enthusiasts, and vintage interior design lovers.
